Fāoa
A. Sunia
Aitofele Sunia was born and
raised in Fagatogo.
Graduated from Roosevelt High School in Hawaii. He completed his
undgraduate and Juris Doctor degrees at
the University of San Francisco.
He
passed the Hawaii Bar exam in 1980.
In
previous years he served as the Director of the
Legislative Reference Bureau for the Fono and later appointed ASG
Treasurer for both the Lutali and Tauese
administrations.
Practiced law before being appointed to the post of Treasurer in 2001.
After
the sudden death of Governor Tauese, Aitofele Sunia was
appointed to the Lt. Governor post by Governor Togiola.
He was elected as Lt. Governor in November 2004.
In
the community, Fāoa serves as Deacon and Treasurer
for the Congregational Christian Church, Petesa Uta.
He holds the Sealiimalietoa title of Puapua
Savaii, and the Ipulasi title of Fagatogo.
He was awarded the Fāoa title of Manu'a in May
2008.
He
is married to Elisapeta Pula Nikolao and they have six
children.
